Common Data Set

The Common Data Set (CDS) Initiative is a collaborative effort between publishers and the educational community to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student's transition into higher education. The CDS also helps reduce the burden on colleges of compiling and reporting information. The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) requires institutions to provide publicly available statistics and metrics, most of which are satisfied by information contained in the CDS. The OIE publishes the CDS annually in late May.
