Event When and Where Description
RISE and Rest Yoga Tuesdays | 4:30-5:20 PM | HITS Studio Each week, join RISE yoga instructor, Kat Ibarra, for a time of resilience-yoga and mindfulness. All levels of experience and capabilities are welcome, and attendees are encouraged to bring a yoga mat/towel.
Crafternoons Every Other Tuesday (beginning on January 28, 2025) | 2-4 pm | The Light House Do you like crafts? Do you want a relaxed space to just be around others and enjoy the company of being alone together? Crafternoons are the place for you! Join RISE and the Counseling Center for a time of peaceful crafting and resilience. There is paper, origami books, coloring pages, color pencils, friendship bracelets, and crayons available. Feel free to bring your own crafting projects (knitting, sewing, cross stitching, painting, etc.) if you'd like as well! A RISE representative and staff from the Counseling Center is available at every session.
RISE Comfort Knitting Circle Tuesdays | 6-8 PM | Faculty/Staff Dining Room Join RISE and Dr. Kelle Marshall each week for a comfort knitting circle. Dr. Marshall teaches how to knit and shares about the benefits of knitting and how this mindful activity can expand our capacity to move through difficult and heavy seasons. Knitting supplies and snacks are also provided.
RISE Yoga Retreat (spring) April 19, 2025 | 10 AM-2 PM | The Light House Students, faculty, and staff come together for a rejuvenating day of yoga and resilience hosted by RISE. The event offers a chance to unwind and explore the powerful impact of yoga on both the mind and body. Participants could drop in or step out as needed.
Prayers and Pizza April 10, 2025 | 12-1 PM | Lower Adamson Plaza [RISE Together event] Students stop by the RISE table to take part in a spiritual activity -  writing a prayer and/or taking a prayer! RISE provides a slice of pizza for all participants.
Caring Cards and Cookies April 3, 2025 | 12-1 PM | Upper Adamson Plaza [RISE Together event] Students stop by the RISE table to write cards to Pepperdine employees to express appreciation for these amazing workers who do so much for our campus. RISE assists in the delivery of the cards, and cookies provided to all those participating.
Lemons and Life Skills March 27, 2025 | 12-1 PM | Lower Adamson Plaza [RISE Together event] The RISE Together Chapel groups introduce and expand on ways to improve important life skills such as time management, technology discernment, and financial management. Students pick up some helpful worksheets that will take them a step further in building these crucial skills. In addition, lemonade is handed out to all those who grab a worksheet and participate. When life gives you lemons, make life skills!
Social Resilience Lunch and Learn March 20, 2025 | 2-3 PM | BPC 189 RISE hosts a lunch and learn focusing on the social dimension of resilience, and lunch provided for those who register for the event.
Serenity Stop-By March 20, 2025 | 12-1 PM | Upper Adamson Plaza [RISE Together event] Students stop by the RISE table to grab serenity prayer bookmarks and cards. A perfect reminder of what we have control over. Mini bundt cakes also provided.
Physical Resilience Brunch and Learn March 18, 2025 | 10-11 AM | AC 286 RISE hosts a special brunch and learn focusing on the physical dimension, and SunLife provided to those who register for the event.
Track Talk and Walk March 13, 2025 | 11 AM - 12 PM | Track [RISE Together event] Attendees join RISE and Outdoor Rec for a 15 min walk or run on the Pepperdine track. The event allows participants to get moving in the middle of a busy school week and is also a double mileage event for the PCT competition.
Bridling and Befriending Stress Lunch & Learn March 12, 2025 | 1:30-2:30 PM | BPC 189 Hosted by RISE faculty member Dr. Carrie Wall, attendees learn about what stress is and how to healthily handle it while also reflecting on the cognitive dimension of resilience. Mendocino Farms provided for those in attendance.
Love Language Workshop February 27, 2025 | 12-1 PM | Lower Mullin Town Square [RISE Together event] In this tabling event, RISE and Relationship IQ help students identify their love languages and teach students how knowing their love languages helps build intentional relationships. This can help build friendships with peers in college and social resilience.
Resilience in Action: Alumni Insights on Career Success February 26, 2025 | 5:30-7 PM | Light House Building a career comes with its challenges–whether it’s job searching, interviewing, or adjusting to a new role. Students join RISE and the Career Center for a conversation with alumni about how resilience can help navigate your career, and students gain practical tips for their own journey. Sharky’s burritos provided to attendees.
Learning & Memory in the Classroom and Beyond Lunch and Learn February 26, 2025 | 12-1 PM | BPC 190 Hosted by RISE faculty member Dr. Janet Trammell, attendees learn about the process of learning and the tools to do so while also reflecting on the cognitive dimension of resilience. Mendocino Farms provided for those in attendance.
Board of Blessings Lunch and Learn February 11, 2025 | 12-1 PM | HAWC 200 Focusing on the spiritual dimension of resilience, attendees learn about the importance of knowing that God is with you, the eternal nature of time, and gratitude, and then spend time making prayer/vision boards and being in community with one another  Chipotle provided for those who register.
Mourning, Rising, and Meditation February 7, 2025 | 5-7 PM | AC Patio Graduate students join RISE and the Hub for Spiritual Life for a time of meditation and fellowship. Sharky’s burritos provided to those who register.
Mind Your Health, Jeopardy Game February 5, 2025 | 7-7:50 PM | HAWC 200 To celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day, students join RISE and Pepperdine Athletics to test their knowledge in areas such as women in sport, resilience, pop culture, and more. Sharky’s burritos provided for the first 30 attendees.
Supporting those Struggling with Mental Health Concerns Lunch & Learn February 4, 2025 | 12:15-1:15 PM | CCB 140 RISE and the Counseling Center host an educational presentation about how to help loved ones who are struggling with mental health and irrational thoughts. Attendees learn some new social and cognitive resilience skills, and catering provided from Mendocino Farms.
