Jessica Vosk: From Wall Street to Broadway to Malibu

“Dazzling audiences with her talent, energy, sincerity and humor… a perfectly crafted cabaret that sent the audience into a frenzy.”—Broadway World

“Her powerhouse and pristine vocals aside, the true achievement here is Vosk’s ability to switch musical genres effortlessly, engaging each song with a new vocal attack that is completely truthful to its musical style.”—Playbill

MALIBU, CA – August 26, 2024 – Broadway star Jessica Vosk takes the stage at Smothers Theatre on Pepperdine University’s Malibu campus on Thursday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m for “IN MY LIVING ROOM: Jessica Vosk Celebrates Broadway, Film, and the Ladies of the Laurel Canyon.” Her big voice, humor, and stories will charm audiences through an intimate cabaret evening. Vosk will be accompanied by music director Matthew Antonio Perri on piano and Rich Mercurio on percussion.

Jessica Vosk is a celebrated singer and actress known for starring roles on the musical theatre and concert stage. Best known for her star turn as Elphaba in the musical “Wicked”—first on tour and then joining the show’s 15th anniversary on Broadway—Vosk played the green witch for two years and was featured performing “Defying Gravity” in the PBS “Great Performances” 50th anniversary concert.

Vosk had an unconventional journey to Broadway, beginning her career on Wall Street before taking the leap of faith to pursue her dreams on stage. Other Broadway credits include “Finding Neverland” and “The Bridges of Madison County.” Favored roles of note include The Narrator in the 50th anniversary of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at Lincoln Center and at MUNY, creating the role of Aunt Val in the Broadway-bound world premiere of “Becoming Nancy,” and re-creating the role of Fruma Sarah in the “Fiddler on the Roof” revival.

Jessica Vosk is an accomplished concert artist, having completed her first 20-city solo concert tour last year. Vosk’s two albums, “Wild and Free” and “A Very Coco Christmas,” debuted on the Billboard and iTunes Charts. She also has a Grammy nod for her work with the San Francisco Symphony. She has played the famed Carnegie Hall twice in one season, with “Get Happy: A Judy Garland Centennial Celebration,” after her sold-out solo concert debut there in 2021.

“I love bringing audiences an experience, and this one is intimate and, as always, filled with stories and vulnerable moments, because that’s the real side of showbiz you rarely see. I’ve been inspired by my artistic projects over the last year; creating new leading roles, building a new animated character, and some secrets I haven't revealed yet. This is the fireside living room chat I’ve been waiting for.”—Jessica Vosk
