Pepperdine Legacy Partners offers annual scholarships of $5,000 to Seaver College students through the Helen Young Memorial Scholarship and the Andy and Debby Benton Endowed Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded to dedicated and active Church of Christ students from across the country. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated faith, service, and leadership within the Churches of Christ. Students are encouraged to reapply each year, showcasing their ongoing commitment to a local Church of Christ and active participation in the spiritual life on campus while enrolled at Pepperdine.

For questions regarding the scholarship application process for incoming students to Seaver College, contact the Office of Admission at 310.506.4392 or admission-seaver@pepperdine.edu

Frequently Asked Questions

Must I be a Church of Christ member to apply?

Yes, you must be a current, active member at a Church of Christ. A minister or elder at your congregation will need to submit a letter of recommendation (in addition to one for the Admissions department).

Is the scholarship awarded to both men and women?

Yes, both the Helen Young Scholarship and the Andy & Debbie Benton Scholarship are awarded to both young men and women.

Does the scholarship apply for all 4 years at Pepperdine?

No, there is a renewal process each spring and our scholarship committee will determine whether a student has successfully fulfilled the criteria in order to renew the scholarship for the following year.

Can I apply as a sophomore, junior, or senior?

No, the initial scholarship is awarded for incoming freshmen and new transfers only, subject to renewal each year as stipulated in the contract.

Does it apply if I am in the Study Abroad program?

Yes, students who are in the Study Abroad program for the Fall and/or Spring semesters are eligible for scholarship renewal.

How do I maintain good standing to receive a renewal on my scholarship?

If you are awarded a Helen Young or Andy & Debbie Benton Scholarship, you will sign an agreement, which includes a commitment to involvement in a local Church of Christ and Campus Ministry, as well as maintaining strong academic standards. The scholarship committee will refer to these contractual standards when determining each scholarship renewal.

When will I hear if I've been awarded the scholarship?

Once the scholarship committee has selected its recipients, each student will be notified in mid to late March.
