Elizabeth Yomantas ('11, MA '13) and I lead two classes of Seaver College teacher education students who have made a YouTube channel of videos to help kids who are learning at home and other adults who are helping kids.
Most of the video-makers are student teachers who had to leave their student teaching classrooms when schools closed and have had minimum online contact with their students since then. We made these videos for our students, and we made them publicly available so that other students could enjoy them, too. We need to learn and practice an online teaching presence, and making a teaching video is one way we can do that.
Some of the videos were made for THRIVE Conejo, an organization that promotes inclusive education. Other videos were made with a particular class of students in mind.
