Luka PetrikicFilip Luka Petrikic

  • Senior, Major: Business Administration
  • Clubs/Organizations: Sigma Chi Fraternity, Model United Nations

Hey! My name is Luka and I am a senior majoring in Business Administration. I was born in Vienna, Austria where I lived until I moved to Hawai’i for college at 19. My family on both sides are from Serbia so I visit frequently and go there every summer which is why I feel very connected to Serbia. I am a transfer student from the University of Hawai’i where I played for the Men’s Tennis Team for 2 years which was an amazing experience and my first time living away from home. I love traveling and I have traveled to over 40 countries which helped me to gain a great understanding of various cultures and I still enjoy learning about them. I studied in the Florence Program during summer which was an incredible experience as I was able to study so close to my home country, while still attending Pepperdine. What really made my experience at Pepperdine amazing was trying as many new things as possible and being open to the opportunities presented on and off campus. I’m excited to be an international student ambassador and help you guys feel at home at Pepperdine.

I know what it feels like to arrive at a new place without knowing anyone, so please do not hesitate to reach out and I would be more than happy to help with any questions!

Fabian SaucedoFabian Saucedo

  • Senior, Major: Psychology, Minor: Industrial/Organizational Psychology
  • Favorite food: Croissants

Hello! My name is Fabian, and I’m a senior majoring in Psychology at Pepperdine. I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, where I attended an American school with a diverse student body. I was exposed to various cultures and learned to adapt to the American academic system. This allowed me to have a smooth transition to an American university. Pepperdine has been the ideal place to keep expanding my knowledge and skills while sharing my unique culture in a new environment. During my sophomore year, I studied abroad in Heidelberg, Germany, where I discovered new things about myself and the world. As my time at Pepperdine comes to an end, I expect to continue stepping out of my comfort zone, exploring new adventures, and making a difference in society. As an international student ambassador, I hope to help you do the same and guide you to overcome challenges, enjoy the journey, and learn invaluable lessons. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or if you’d simply like to hang out!

Hi everyone! My name is Simon Khorani, and I'm thrilled to be your International Student Ambassador this year! I am a senior studying Nutritional Science. I was born and raised in Kurdistan, Iraq, where I attended The International School of Choueifat. I always dreamt of studying abroad, and I'm so happy to call Pepperdine my home away from home. Adapting to a new culture can be both exciting and challenging, and I understand the mix of emotions that come with being an international student. Having gone through this myself, I want to ensure your transition to Pepperdine is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Outside of academics, I enjoy staying active through calisthenics. Whether you need guidance on academics, navigating campus life, or simply want a friendly face to connect with, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Daniel CardenasDaniel Cardenas

  • Junior, Major: International Business
  • Clubs/organizations: Sigma Chi Fraternity, IFC

Hey! My name is Daniel, and I am a junior majoring in International Business. I am 20 years old, born in Tucson, Arizona, but grew up in Mexico. My family on both sides is from Mexico. I have spent all my college years at Pepperdine. I love sports like soccer, Formula 1, basketball, and horse racing. I have been playing soccer since I was four years old. This summer, I participated in the Florence Program. It was amazing, and we were able to travel all around Europe. I highly recommend participating in one of the abroad programs; it would be a great decision. Before I arrived at Pepperdine, I didn't know anyone else, but thanks to the support of the community, I was able to connect with everyone. This school offers many opportunities to grow, both personally and professionally. I recommend everyone to get involved with the community by joining clubs, Greek life, community service, etc.

I know the beginning is always hard, but please don’t hesitate to ask anyone at Pepperdine if you have a question. Everyone here is really nice and open to helping you. You will have my contact information; please reach out if you need anything, and I will respond as soon as possible. Have a great day, and I hope to meet all of you.

  • Sophomore, Majors: Finance, Accounting
  • Favorite Food: Sushi
  • Clubs/organizations: Blue and Orange Indonesian Society

Hello! My name is Kay Nayaka Hartanto, and I am a sophomore studying Finance and Accounting. I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, where I have lived for my whole life! Before moving to the US, I attended an intercultural school and was able to interact with those of different cultures everyday. When I arrived at Pepperdine, it delt like I was still adjusting, and it was a difficult time for me. But as time went on, I was able to call it my second home! I was able to find friends through my dorm, clubs, volunteering and work! As the first person coming to the US from my whole family, I have been inspired to get to know others in and outside of Pepperdine to build a strong community here. I am excited for our journey throughout this academic year! P.S. Feel free to reach out to me, and think of me as a friend instead of an ambassador!
